Most species of crab can actually walk in all directions but they mostly run and walk sideways. The average lifespan of a crab is 3-4 years, however some of the larger species, such as the Japanese Spider Crab (which has a leg span of up to 4m!), can live up to 100 years. Crabs communicate with each other by drumming or waving their pincers. Crabs are omnivores which means they eat both meat and plants.
